Ms. Ayesha Omer

Ms. Ayesha Umer M.phil. – Biochemistry Scientific Officer

Head of Biochemistry Unit, ADRC Ms. Ayesha Umer is an emerging young scientist of Food Biochemistry. Following the completion of “Biochemical Evaluation with Reference to Nutritional Aspects of Edible Species of Crabs collected from the coastal waters of Pakistan” in her M.Phil. Research in 2021, she has selected a comprehensive research topic entitled “Biochemical Assessment of Commercial Shellfish Products of Pakistan, in Relation to Sustainable use of Marine Resources”. She disseminated her research discoveries through publication in peer-reviewed journals with high impact factors.

With a extended period of working with several govermental and non-governmental institution such as International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences and Food and Marine Resources Research Centre, Complex Karachi, she bears technical expertise in the handing and use of laboratory animals, human care, nutritional profiling, advance Bioinformatics software tool programming, operational handling of HPLC and GC, cell culture techniques, Quality Assurance of Food commodities and products, development of analytical methods, laboratory management system ISO 9001 and testing & calibration ISO 17025, Halal seafood testing, biochemical indices of decomposition in seafood products, antibiotics  residue in seafood products.

Ms. Ayesha received foreign training in “Marine Fisheries Economic Development from Fujian Institute of Oceanography, Xiamen-China in the year 2019.
