A good sleep affects the physical, mental and behavioural aspects of an individual. Disturbance in the normal biological rhythm of an individual can disrupt one’s performance. Sleep disorders are many but the type that can take one’s life is obstructive sleep apnea. It is therefore important to know the anatomy of involved structures that are responsible for the pathophysiology of the above-mentioned condition. To our knowledge data regarding oropharyngeal anatomy in Pakistan is very less. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is evolving as a worldwide health epidemic and is confronting an increasing prevalence especially due to the obesity pandemic. Though extensive global prevalence facts and figures are still missing, and worldwide OSA research in standings of activity, value, and socio-economic features has not yet been revealed. Our objectives of ongoing research are to determine the morphological features of the upper airway by physical examination in patient with sleep apnea and the correlation between actual tonsil volume (by ultrasound) and Brodsky tonsillar grading and its relation with OSA Severity. A very important part of this ongoing research is to formulate a new grading system for Pakistani population.
