Images play a vital role in this era of social media, but now a days, it is very easy to tamper or manipulate an image. The rapid growth of tampering techniques also pose a challenge for researchers regarding detection of these fake images. Deep learning and vision techniques are being used for manipulating an image for different malicious intentions. For example, spreading fake news on different online platforms; Medical images may be altered to distort the patient’s diagnostics; government officials, legal advisors may use altered images to influence the public opinions and court decisions. Another category of image forensics is the generation of synthesized images for malicious purposes e.g., to produce incriminating videos and photos, fake media profiles etc. Mischievous people can make fake news by using machine generated images that may potentially lead to distress in society. This project focuses on detection of two types image forgeries:
a) Classification of real and synthetic fake face images.
b) Detection and localization of image manipulations.
