Human facial appearance is strongly influenced by demographical characteristics such as categorical age, ethnicity, and gender. However, automatic classification of demographic attributes of an individual from his/her facial images is a challenging task. The project team developed a system that could automatically classify three demographic attributes from the digital facial image of an individual. These include ethnicity, age and gender.
